Inside us, everyone has unforgettable recollections and beautiful memories of the Mid-Autumn festival from our childhood. At WASS, we also try to preserve the beautiful school years, the cultural beauty and the beautiful traditions of our nation to teach our WASSers. Mid-Autumn is part of these traditions. Let’s listen to the experiences of our WASSers about the Mid-Autumn festival at WASS this year.

Every year, students feel very happy and excited to come to the festival, to be entertained; to hold a party and as well as to observe the moon. At Western Australian Internal School System, I have joined in the interesting folk games, watched lion dances, dragon dances, and learned about the Tet reunion through the plays and fairy tales about moon lady and moon boy. Besides, we also helped teachers to lay fruit trays and enjoy the party. I always want the Mid-Autumn festival to come and I wish that I will participate in many Mid – Autumn festivals with my friends at WASS in the future.

Each year at the Mid-Autumn festival we celebrate a special event. At WASS, students join in different folk games such as: breaking clay pigs, making lanterns and tug of wars. Especially this year, I had the experience to make glutinous moon cakes – one of the most popular dishes during this festival. I felt happy to celebrate the Mid-Autumn at school with teachers and students. I hope that next year I can celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival cheerfully and happily like this year’s event.

This year is the year I celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival at a new school that is Western Australian International School System. I couldn’t stand waiting to join the Mid-Autumn Festival with my friends and teachers. So, the Mid-Autumn Festival arrived at Western Australian International School System this morning. I got dressed in traditional costumes, which are colourful and beautiful costumes. Teachers and their class went to take photos of the decorated surroundings of our school.

At 9:00 a.m. we gathered in the schoolyard to meet Moon Boy and Moon Lady. Afterward, we got to experience many interesting moments such as playing folk games. I got to play beating piggy banks, tug of war, ringing golden bells and many other games.

The mid-autumn atmosphere is bustling and fun at WASS. We created the fruit tray of the Mid-Autumn Festival together. We decorated the fruits into very funny animal shapes by ourselves. We had a lot of fun and had many wonderful experiences together when we were able to enjoy the party; observe the moon together; and watch the special performances by teachers and students at school. This year the Mid-Autumn Festival was a memorable festival for me, I had funny moments with my friends and teachers.

Mid-Autumn is the favourite and most desired occasion of WASSers in September. On this special day at WASS, Kindergarten had the opportunity of learning the songs and fairy tales relating to the Mid-Autumn Festival and also participating in the great activities held by the school.

Before the event, the students all felt happy as they held colourful lanterns. These lanterns were in the shape of carps, butterflies, rabbits, and chickens and were hung in front of the school gate to create an exciting environment for the occasion. On this special day, young WASSers wore traditional costumes and were ready to welcome the moon lady, moon boy and the rabbits. All of the students enjoyed the festival and were surprised and entertained when the fairy characters relating to the Mid-Autumn Festival arrived and spoke to them. In addition, they also found the games and activities such as listening to Moon lady’s talk, exploring the moon, and Mid-Autumn costumes contest very fascinatingly.

Appearing in excellent music and fairy tales about banyan trees, Moon Boy let the children understand more about the Mid-Autumn Festival. Everyone was excited very attentive as they listened and watched the repertoires. The children also had a chance of enjoying the music and dance performance by the teachers and Kindergarten class members.

The Mid-Autumn Festival this year was experienced by the young WASSers of Kindergarten in a very lively and warm atmosphere. The children from all classes showed their best display on the stage. The children below also clapped their hands as they danced along with them. The smile was always on their faces. Mid-Autumn Festival ended with joy and the bustling laughter of the little angels at Western Australian International School System Kindergarten.
