In the academic year 2023-2024, the Western Australian community will come together and focus on Yen Bai to continue the journey of spreading love and sharing with the community through the project “Yen Bai, For A Brighter Tomorrow”.
Following the successes of the “Drawing Smiles for Dien Bien” project implemented throughout the academic year 2022 – 2023, the Western Australian community will come together and focus on Yen Bai in this academic year 2023 – 2024 to continue the journey of spreading love and sharing with the H’Mong ethnic community in Son Thinh Town, Van Chan District, and Tuc Dan Commune, Tram Tau District, Yen Bai Province through the project “Yen Bai, For A Brighter Tomorrow”.
With the aim of improving lives and contributing to a brighter future for the people and students in Yen Bai, Empower the Next Generation Community Fund of WASS will implement a series of projects, including:
Strengthen the Present – Create the Future
Distance and housing issues pose barriers for students in remote highland areas that challenge accessing knowledge. Therefore, these students need stable accommodation close to the school to make the journey to school easier.
The “Strengthen the Present – Create the Future” project is implemented with the goal of constructing and expanding a system of classrooms and accommodation near the school for approximately 40 – 50 H’Mong students of the Son Thinh Secondary School and Son Thinh High School in Son Thinh Town, Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province.
Community House
This project will involve the construction of a community recreation area and a dining hall for the students of Son Thinh Secondary School and Son Thinh High School.
This community recreation area will serve as a place for students to play, relax after school, and provide a space for learning traditional folk songs and dances or playing traditional games. It will contribute to preserving, maintaining, and promoting the cultural beauty of the H’Mong ethnic community.
Conquer the Future – Connect the Knowledge
In previous academic years, due to a lack of computer equipment for teaching Computer Science, students at the Tuc Dan Boarding Ethnic Secondary and High School (located in Pate Village) had to use computers from nearby schools, and they consistently faced difficulties in computer practical sessions.
The “Conquer the Future – Connect the Knowledge” project aims to build a computer lab equipped with a system of 20 computers for the Tuc Dan Boarding Ethnic Secondary and High School, ensuring that students can study computer science in the best possible conditions.
Way to School – Way to Dreams
Poor transportation infrastructure, primitive means of transportation, steep and dangerous roads, as well as slippery conditions, constantly pose a threat to the safety of the local residents and more than 400 students in Lang Tong Village, Tuc Dan Commune, Tram Tau District, Yen Bai Province.
To minimize the danger and make the journey to school more convenient for the students, the “Way to School – Way to Dreams” project will focus on building approximately 1 kilometer of concrete road on the most dangerous rocky slope in Lang Tong Village.
The School will organize various events and activities, such as Spirit Days, fairs, etc., during the academic year 2023 – 2024 to encourage students to contribute to the WASS Community Fund – Empower the Next Generation. The funds raised by the WASS community during this academic year will be used to implement the “Yen Bai, For A Brighter Tomorrow” project.
The School hopes that both Parents and students will continue to join hands in working towards a better community and a brighter future for those less fortunate.
