Besides offering two excellent academic programs, international and bilingual programs, the Western Australian International School System (WASS) also places emphasis on the importance of field trips to help give students practical experiences and life skills.
The field trips are also known as “classes without walls” and are held monthly for students from kindergarten to high school. During the past years, hundreds of “classes without walls” have been taking place in many different locations such as at: the Sport and Education Center For Students (Vietopia); Tree Farm; Family Garden Farm; Minh Long ceramics, RMIT University; Rong Vang Water Puppet Theater, to name just a few. The activities are implemented in various forms such as a city tour, team building games, sports days, occupation experiences, and “becoming farmers for a day” and lots of trips to explore the culture, history and society of the nation.
Being away from the school and books temporarily, the students can enjoy nature and the outdoors environment. This is also a great opportunity for the students to develop their life-skills, cultivate observational ability, and nurture self-confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
Through joining these clubs, the students become closer and have a better understanding of each other. Thanks to this, their friendships have become more close-knit.
