The WASS life skills program is based on the school’s educational attitudes in conjunction with UNESCO’s 12 principles. The first theme of August is Integrity – the first month of school. It is not coincidental that this theme was chosen to be taught at the beginning of the school year.

Nowadays, many of our good morals are gradually fading away. Therefore, in order to help students develop not only their intellect but also their personality, the elementary school teachers have prepared appropriate and practical life-skills lessons for our students. Twelve different themes are delivered monthly, beginning with the theme “Integrity”.

Integrity is connected to honesty. It is inherent in ethics and is a virtue that helps people succeed and become respected by the society. Developing this virtue in students requires a long and persistent process that is not just only one or two days. For elementary students, integrity is simple: recognizing their mistakes and correcting them, returning objects dropped and being honest in their learning.

According to the instruction of teachers, with the stories, and real-life situations, students themselves are able to make the lessons on their own. They also have the chance to put on a play, tell stories and play games. This helps to reinforce their knowledge, enhance their life skills, as well as develop the good character. Obviously, students can only do this in a happy, comfortable learning environment. Furthermore, the combination of working individually and working in groups also enables students to practice how to be confident and how to get along well with their teammates. Each lesson, which is meant to encourage students to be enthusiastic learners, is not only well prepared but also is designed catchily with clear images and vivid videos.

After being trained, students will be more mature. Students are able to recognize their faults, do apologize and also know how to correct their mistakes after making their teachers upset, hitting into someone, accidentally spilling something on their friends’ uniforms, or returning stuff that does not belong to them. They also regulated themselves by not lying or copying the work from their classmates.

The discussion between parents shows the fact that they all realized positive changes in their children. The kids can admit that they are wrong and are more responsible for making mistakes. Thanks to that, parents agree to keep motivating the school on educating children.
