At the end of summer, WASS had a field trip back to southern part of Vietnam, exploring 04 destination including: Cu lao Long, Lan, Qui, and Phung. This trip was to improve the understanding of the daily lives of the civilians living on the banks of the Tien River, Ben Tre City
Down to the West, the students boarded the boat to Tien River watching the normal life of fisherman on the river. Teachers and students stopped by the mystical garden to enjoy the specialties, seasonal fruits, and exchanges musical entertainment from people of the South. Here they get the opportunity to learn more about the honey production process and enjoy honey tea along with the delicious fruit jam at the garden. In particular, Wassers also got the chance to challenge their bravery when exposed and carrying a giant python on the neck.
After a few minutes of relaxation, the teachers and students of WASS continue to kayak thru the narrow paths to discover the hidden paradise of our ecosystem, isolated nature, and tall coconut water trees hovering over the banks. They also took carriage rides to visit the village and the coconut candy factory of Ben Tre. We will then enjoy hot coconut candy and buy handicrafts in traditional villages. At noon, the children will dine with unique gourmet like grilled tuna fish, fried swordfish, and sweet and sour fish soup….
After visiting many destinations around Ben Tre, the old boat brought the teacher and WASSers students back to the station, closing the journey down to the South. The trip aided children to understand the life of people in the West River side. The encountering of folk songs, , regional folk dances, and tranquil countryside landscapes will forever be the unforgettable memories of the Wassers this summer.
