During the week in response to World Peace Day, September 21st, WASSers together dressed in blue to go to school and participate in meaningful activities, sending their dreams of a world without war.
Each year, International Day of Peace is celebrated around the world on September 21st to reinforce the ideals of peace twenty-four hours. The theme of the 2020 International Day of Peace is, “Shaping Peace Together”, in the context of countries around the world working together to stop the impact of the global epidemic COVID – 19. Together, we can participate and build a peaceful world by spreading love, empathy, and hope to everyone.
Together with the efforts to cultivate love and sharing amongst our students at WASS, the school’s community activities are held regularly with the aim of connecting loving hearts and teaching students the values of life and their responsibility to the community. To commemorate this year’s International Peace Day, the Western Australian International School System will hold a “Shaping Peace Together” Week (from September 21 to 25) to help raise students’ awareness of world peace.
On 21st September, WASS’s campuses were filled with blue color by the blue shirts of the students. This is a meaningful act to express the desire for peace and send out the message of love from our WASSers. In order to make this activity more meaningful, with each blue shirt worn to school on 21st September, WASS will donate 10,000 VND to the “For the Community” Fund for the school year 2020 – 2021 and will be used for school’s charity activities at the end of this year.
In addition, during the week of, “Shaping Peace Together” (September 21 to 25), students have learned meaningful lessons about this special day through History, Literature, Music, Art … and together create products that represent their own voice about a world filled with peace.
After the “Shaping Peace Together” week ends, WASS hopes students will continue to share the messages of peace and develop their roles as leaders of the future.
