On August 01st 2015, The Western Australian Primary and High School (WAPS) organized the ceremony of the 5th year anniversary and the Vu A Dinh Scholarship granting at The Convention Center 272 Vo Thi Sau, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
We were honored to welcome Ms. Truong My Hoa – Former Vice President of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Hien – Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. John Mc Naulty – Australian Consul General HCMC, Ms. Gail Taylor – School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia, Mr. Do Quoc Anh – Department Manager, Assistant to Minister of Ministry of Education and Training in HCMC, Mr. Do Huu Tuyet – Deputy Director of the Department – Deputy Director of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Education and Training in HCMC, Mr. Tran Quang Ba – Vice Chairman of People’s Committee in District 3.
In the past 5 years, The Western Australian Primary and High School has continuously brought innovation to our teaching methods, raised our sense of responsibility and professional competence to our teachers, effectively used of our facilities and teaching equipment to improve the quality of teaching and studying. Together with the strict implementation of the curriculum as prescribed, The School has always place as an utmost importance on building close relationship with our parents, to support our students.
In the ceremony, The School awarded 20 scholarships to the Diploma of Preschool Pedagogy, each worth 20 million Vietnamdong; 20 scholarships to Dream Chasing, each worth 6 million Vietnamdong, total 120 million / a year in the next 7 years (2015-2022); 5 scholarships to study abroad in Nursing in Germany, each worth 300 million Vietnamdong; 3 scholarships to Future Incubator, each worth 2 billion 475 million Vietnamdong; the total scholarship awarded worth 10 billion 975 million Vietnamdong.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Hien – The Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciated the effort and growth of the Western Australian School in the past 5 years and acknowledged The School’s distribution to social activities and community support. The Deputy Minister hoped that we will continuously develop our achievements, enhance international cooperation, especially support from The School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia in order to bring a modern, professional and friendly education environment.
Ms. Truong My Hoa – Former Vice President of Vietnam, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund President sent her congratulations to the management board, teachers, employees and students of The School on the 5th year anniversary. On behalf of the scholarship fund, residents and soldiers living and working in far islands, she expressed thanks to the Western Australian School. She has believed that The School would be a wonderful education environment for the soldiers’ children in the far islands.
On behalf of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia, Ms. Gail Taylor said: “The Western Australian Primary and High School is a very important member of the international education community offering the Western Australian program, offered as well in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.” and stated: “The Authority is proud of the achievement of the school in offering high quality Western Australian Primary and High School and looks forward of supporting The School over the coming year and in the years ahead.”
Mr. John Mc Naulty – Australian Consul General HCM City pointed out the importance of education in Vietnam and offered Australia’s contribution to improving education in Vietnam, particularly The Western Australian Primary and High School – a member of the Australian education community. He hoped that two students teachers from Curtin University in Australia – Josie and Giselle who will be teaching at the Western Australian Primary and High School for the next three months as part of their studies under the New Colombo Plan will have well performance here.
