During the Western Australia 2 days training course (March 25,26) at Sunway College – Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, WASS teachers had the opportunity to meet and discuss with Ms. Louise Dodman, EAL / D program advisor from SCSA.

As one of the conditions for teaching the Western Australian program, teacher-training activities are particularly focused and strictly followed by WASS to ensure that teachers are up to date with international teaching methods and have a consistent quality of students. At the same time, teacher training activities also carry the purpose of giving the teachers the newest teaching techniques and help them to exchange and gain access to gain knowledge of cultural diversity. This means they can raise their awareness about how to respect the various different people in different countries.

During this training, with the participation of more than 10 international schools from different countries, Ms. Louise enthusiastically shared details about the EAL / D program, the ATAR exam as well as the “tactics” of teaching, assessment criteria and scoring for students studying in WASS.

In addition, after the training session, WASS teachers also have the opportunity to visit the school’s facilities, meet with teachers and staff who are teaching here to exchange experiences and from there gain a better teaching orientation for WASSers in the future.

The strengthening of training sessions in WASS is one of the criteria that the school has always actively pursued to bring to students a comprehensive, modern learning environment. This works in accordance with the commitments made at the beginning of the Western Australia program. In February and early March 2019, WASS teachers also took part in training in Shanghai and Singapore to train in the knowledge of IB program to prepare them for teaching the IB program which is expected to start in early 2020.
