Upon entering grade one, I often heard my mom tell me that I was my dad’s delight. When I was a little older, Dad proudly told his friends that he had an ally in a soccer match now.
When I was ten, Dad taught me how to cook eggs with tomato sauce when Mom was away. Since I was born, Dad has become incredibly resourceful. He went to the grocery store and learned how to cook my mom’s favorite food, and I knew that he did this because he loved me and because he wanted to help Mom, so she wouldn’t be tired.
But recently, whenever he came home, Dad was always angry. That made me sad. I wished that he would be home more often and that he would call and talk to us about work.
This happens in many families in Vietnam. Have you ever wondered whether you spend enough time with your child? Do you know if your child is happy or sad? Fathers are usually their wives’ support and their children’s heroes. When I was little, I was closer to my mother, but when grew up, I needed both of my parents. However, many fathers have to work a lot and go on business trips far away from home. As a result, parents often send their kids to boarding schools or hire a nanny to take care of the kids. However, the consequence is that children often become lonely in their own family.
Every year there are more and more cases of children with autism in Vietnam. One reason for this is that they lack their parents’ care. Therefore, it is a good idea to spend more time with your children, in order to ensure that they develop in a healthy way. Western Australian Primary and High School is organizing a seminar called “One hour a day” with Dr. Trần Đình Dũng as a guest speaker. During the seminar, he will share some tips on how to make time for your children when you are busy at work.
