Students from all five campuses of the Western Australian International School System had a wonderful time together when they attended school wearing bright blue shirts for the International Peace Day 2019. This is also one of the annual activities organised by WASS to raise students’ awareness of global issues.
“Blue shirt to school” is a practical action to express the desire of WASS students to support an end to war and violence all around the world and head towards a peaceful and happy life.
WASS has also partnered with students by donating VND 10,000 with each blue shirt worn by students to school. This money is pledged to the WASS charity fund and will be used in the school’s ongoing volunteer program.
On International Peace Day, the WASSers were also able to write their own good wishes for a world without war, join hands to paint paintings with meaningful messages, and sit down together to wish for a future full of love between people.
At The Western Australian International School System, we always make our students aware of the concept of “global citizenship” when addressing domestic and international issues, by giving them the freedom to express their personal opinions. As a result of this, they are able to perceive, learn and think deeply and logically about world issues. This annual occasion of World Peace Day is also one of the many ways that the school has been using to highlight the importance of our students becoming “global citizens”.
International World Peace Day in the Western Australian International School System aims to teach some lessons on how to spread messages of love, how to strengthen the bond between people so that the world can avoid war. WASS will continue its ongoing efforts using education so that this humanitarian movement will continue to spread throughout the WASS community and throughout the world.
