Books are the soul mates of each person and reading books has become a necessity to enrich and nourished our souls. However, reading is not a random hobby that takes shape in children. Therefore, parents have to assist their children to form a good reading habit from an early age.
Indeed, reading is not just a self-study method that helps children improve their understanding. First and foremost, it is an activity for children to improve their vocabularies, thereby developing their ability to communicate. Reading also helps children increase their concentration which is essential for long-term learning. In addition, reading helps to tighten the bond between parents and children. So, the love of books needs cultivating under the influence of parents.
Start reading to your child read as soon as possible, even when he or she is still in the womb. Once a child has learned to read, parents should maintain the reading habits for their children at certain time of the day, such as before bed, the morning when they wake up, or on the weekend. A book is a special gift given to children as a way of acknowledging their efforts and expressing care and love. In particular, retelling the stories in the book will stimulate the imagination.
The teachers at school play a crucial role in the children’s development, but we are not the only ones. Parents should try to devote their time to make books become children’s friends in the long-term.
