On April 14th, our primary students participated in the WASS 2017 Charity Trip. The children visited the Dieu Phap Pagoda in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province which is home to more than 100 orphans.
In the spirit of caring, love and compassion the students distributed gifts to all the orphans and together played games with them.
Early in the morning on the day of the event, the primary students, teachers and parents travelled to the Dieu Phap Pagoda armed with such things as books, toys, textbooks and clothing to give to the orphans. The pagoda itself is located in the midst of a green forest in Tan Can Hamlet, Tan Phuoc, Long Thanh. The pagoda has a peaceful atmosphere and from the 1930s to the present has been home for large numbers of orphans. The orphanage is headed by the pious and devoted Buddhist nun Hue Duc who directly cares for the children at the pagoda and who has done so for many years.
During the Charity Trip the representative of the Western Australian International School System, Vice Principal – Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan presented a donation of 30 million VND to the Pagoda to help the less fortunate people. Apart from giving the gifts, our WASSers enjoyed interacting and playing with the orphans. They helped to decorate a living room, played games and did activities such as paper folding and enjoyed music together.
The end of this charity trip, WASSers wished everybody in the Dieu Phap Pagoda happiness, health, and success in the future. One again, WASS would like to thank the benefactors, parents and students who were not afraid of the difficulty of participating in this program to help the disadvantaged to have better lives.
Let’s look back at some of the happy pictures from this WASS primary students’ field trip!
