On October 13, WASSers of IB12 participated in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition with many impressive works and presentations.
Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is one of three core subjects that plays a central and especially important role in IBDP. TOK requires students to think about the characteristics of knowledge and the connections between fields of knowledge so that students can reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know.
The TOK Exhibition is a compulsory project for IB12 students at WASS. It is one of the “final tests” for WASSers on their two-year journey in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The project is an important turning point that marks each individual’s maturity in the learning process and shows readiness for the next step after completing their high school program.
In the exhibition, students choose, exhibit, and provide commentary on three objects to respond to questions regarding the reasons behind their choices and the insights they provide about the knowledge in the world around us based on one of 35 prompts. These prompts were general questions about knowledge such as: “Who owns knowledge?”, “Why do we seek knowledge?”, or “What is the relationship between personal experience and knowledge?”
The TOK Exhibition creates valuable learning experiences and provides a deep and multi-dimensional understanding of different aspects of knowledge, helping WASSers improve their critical thinking, essay writing, and presentation skills. Through the exhibition, IB students at WASS also affirmed their solid foundation of knowledge and the ability to master knowledge and knowledge formation skills, thereby gaining confidence to pursue their lifelong learning journey.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is considered to be one of the most comprehensive university preparatory programs, with a keen focus on the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of learners. IB students not only have a strong foundation of knowledge but also possess a variety of transferable skills, which make their transition into college learning easier with lots of projects and research. Thanks to its in-depth and balanced curriculum, IBDP is highly appreciated and widely recognized around the world, enhancing opportunities for students to pursue their goals and dreams in the future.
