In the first month of 2024, the WASS community has had an energetic “start-up” with Field Trips and an exceptional Open Day event.”
Field Trips to new locations are exciting journeys that open doors for students to explore the vibrant world and enhance their practical knowledge. At WASS, connecting theoretical knowledge with real-life experiences is an essential element of the curriculum to help students with opportunities to “validate” the theories they have learned, fostering stronger bonds and building a resilient community.
1. Field Trips for Kindergarten students
In January 2024, Preschool students from 260 Dien Bien Phu Campus collectively participated in engaging Field Trips on January 5, 18, and 19, marking a significant milestone in their learning journey.
Accordingly, on January 5, little WASSers had an exciting excursion and hands-on experience at 43 Nguyen Thong Campus. The Field Trip not only provided the students with an opportunity to explore a new learning environment but also served as a crucial preparation step as they get ready to transition from Preschool to Primary School – a new journey that awaits them after the conclusion of the academic year 2023 – 2024.
On the morning of January 18, 2024, the students embarked on a Field Trip to the Southern Women’s Museum – a destination renowned not only for its unique architecture but also for its role in preserving and honoring the traditional values of Southern women. They explored artifacts, documents, and admired traditional costumes that preserve the rustic beauty of Southern women across generations.
Continuing the series of useful Field Trip activities, on January 19, 2024, “the little angels” were present at Le Van Tam Park to immerse themselves in nature and participate in enjoyable activities such as practicing Yoga, creating art from leaves, and together savoring refreshing fruit juices.
2. Field Trips for Secondary School Students
The extensive journey of exploring the world and gaining numerous valuable insights for WASSers in 2024 began with the Field Trip to the Southern Women’s Museum and the Agricultural Hi-tech Park.
Accordingly, on January 8, 2024, WASSers from Year 8 (The Western Australian Curriculum – Partial Integrated Program) had a truly memorable visit to the Southern Women’s Museum. Here, they had unforgettable experiences as they journeyed back in time, immersing themselves in stories about the lives and sacrifices of women during the nation’s wartime periods.
In addition, from January 10 to January 12, 2024, WASSers from Secondary School, ranging from Year 6 to 12, embarked on a journey to explore modern technology-integrated farming models at the Agricultural Hi-tech Park (Cu Chi).
Here, they learned more about the cultivation process of mushrooms, cabbage, orchids, and several other plant species. Especially, under the guidance of the engineers at the site, WASSers had the opportunity to personally experience the harvesting process of vegetables and independently plant their pots of orchids.
3. Open Day “Where Innovation Meets Education” and “A Magical Beginning at WASS”
As one of the pioneering international schools in Ho Chi Minh City integrating technology into its educational programs, the Western Australian International School System aims to provide students with dynamic and comprehensive learning experiences, fostering their development to become well-rounded citizens prepared to face future challenges. To create opportunities for parents and students to explore the technologically advanced learning environment from Kindergarten to Year 12 at WASS, the School organized Open Days in January 2024.
On January 13 and January 20, 2024, the Western Australian International School System (WASS) organized Open Days for parents and students at all levels.
On January 13, 2024, WASS joyfully welcomed over 100 families who attended the Open Day “Where Innovation Meets Education” to explore and experience the Primary and Secondary school programs.
Parents and students had the opportunity to learn about the technologically integrated learning environment, teaching programs, facilities, academic pathways, admission policies, and the 2024 summer program in WASS. They also engaged in direct discussions with the Board of Principals.
The Open Day “A Magical Beginning at WASS” on January 20, 2024, also attracted significant interest from numerous parents with Kindergarten-aged children.
At the Open Day, parents had the opportunity to take a campus tour, learn about the innovative technology-integrated education curriculum designed specifically for Early Years students, and have their questions addressed regarding the learning program and educational journey at WASS Kindergarten in particular and the WASS in general.
Particularly at both Open Days, students were able to unleash their creativity through exciting experiential activities in technology integrated into the WASS curriculum. Activities included piloting drones, 3D technology programming, immersive journeys into the future with Augmented Reality glasses, robot operation, and designing dream cities.
In addition, students also took the Entrance Test, experienced being WASSers through trial classes, and received useful gifts upon completing engaging games.
During the Open Days, WASS had the opportunity to meet many dynamic and talented students. Hope that you will become new ”pieces” of WASS in the academic year 2024 – 2025.
