In November 2023, the learning and competitive spirit at WASS became lively with a diverse and captivating series of events for parents and WASSers, providing valuable information and fostering the academic spirit of the students.
In addition to providing a quality educational program, WASS always aims at other important factors, such as balancing study time and activities, providing diverse knowledge, encouraging students to showcase their hidden talents, and creating an environment that helps students develop comprehensively. At the same time, parents can access useful information through practical events, contributing to strengthening the bond between the family, the School, and society.
Some notable events that took place in November 2023 include:
1. A Lively and Innovative Series of Spirit Days Events
Characters in cartoons and comics are not only famous figures but also hobbies, a source of inspiration for children to learn and develop daily. To help WASSers satisfy their love and interest, on November 10, 2023, Western Australian International School System (WASS) organized Toon Day 2023 with the theme “It’s Toon Time” for students.
WASSers were extremely excited to freely dress up in costumes related to their beloved cartoon and comic characters. The appearance of Spider-Man, Disney Princesses, Mickey Mouse, Iron Man, and many other characters created a lively and vibrant atmosphere at WASS.
Continuing the distinctive Spirit Days series of the WASS community, the School organized Pyjama Day on November 24, 2023, specifically for Secondary and High School students. This was an opportunity for WASSers to feel a sense of belonging as they came to school in cute and colorful pyjama outfits, creating a cozy and vibrant atmosphere like their homes.
In particular, Pyjama Day 2023 was planned, prepared, and executed by the members of the School’s Student Council. When students undergo hands-on experience and “try” in various roles, WASS firmly believes that students can accumulate valuable practical experiences and enhance essential skills.
2. Parenting Skill Day Workshop – Guiding Your Child’s Career Direction and Building Their Future
On November 4, 2023, Western Australian International School System organized the Parenting Skill Day workshop with the theme “How to support the choices of teenagers for their future careers?” for Parents of Secondary and High School students.
At the workshop, Mr. Gustavo Páez – Principal of WA International Programs at WASS – shared insights on the importance of early career orientation for students, methods to set goals for students, and trends in employment in the era of Industry 4.0. He also emphasized the significance of developing suitable plans and trajectories aligned with the interests and abilities of each student.
Through the workshop, WASS hopes that parents have gained additional valuable information to become reliable companions for the students on the journey of searching and making important decisions regarding future career choices.
3. Entrepreneur Competition 2023 – The Battle of Talented “Investors”
From October 19 to November 7, 2023, WASS organized the Entrepreneur Competition 2023 with the theme “Greenovation Biz” for Secondary and High School students.
The competition was organized with the aim of supplementing students’ knowledge in the field of business, fostering entrepreneurial spirit, and helping them apply their knowledge in practice. The competition was divided into two stages, including:
-
Stage 1 – Idea Presentation
Students planned and presented carefully considered and creative business ideas. They received feedback and comments from the Board of Principals on how to adjust their business strategies to align with practical circumstances.
-
Stage 2 – Idea Implementation
After the preparation period, the skilled “investors” of WASS brought their ideas to life on Entrepreneur Day, which took place on November 7, 2023. Colorful booths, diverse products, and environmental protection messages were showcased by WASSers at the first entrepreneurship event at WASS.
After two rounds of competition, the School has identified the outstanding teams, including:
