WASS has completed the candidacy phase of its International Baccalaureate (IB) application and is now proudly and officially recognised as an IB World School for the Diploma Program. The IB Diploma Program at WASS will commence in January 2020.
With more than 5000 schools providing the International Baccalaureate (IB) in 156 countries, WASS is honoured to be a member of this global community which is continuing to grow and develop each year.
The IB diploma program is endorsed internationally and adopts modern approaches to teaching and learning. WASS will apply these innovative approaches in order to promote the academic achievements of our students by offering both the bilingual and standard IB Diploma Programs.
In addition, this program is designed to motivate and enhance the individual attributes and characteristics of IB learners. This will provide the students with the necessary skills and preparation they need for college and university programs as they develop the traits of becoming lifelong learners.
Commencing this school year, WASS students will also have the option of choosing two other higher education pathway programs.
The first pathway program is the American Diploma Pathway (ADP), which is in partnership with the Greenville Area School District in Pennsylvania (accredited by Pennsylvania State Department of Education and The Middle States Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools in the United States of America).
The final pathway program that will be offered is the West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) which is accredited by Western Australian Department of Education and administered by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA).
These three pathway programs (IBDP, ADP and WACE) will provide our students with the choice and opportunity to follow their dreams by selecting the most suitable higher level education course for their future.
On this occasion, WASS would like to express my sincere thanks to the whole community of The Western Australian International School System for their remarkable efforts and resilience during the candidacy phase of our IB journey. In addition, WASS would like to thank all the parents for their trust and support as they join in partnership with WASS in the important pathway of educating their children in the best possible way.
Congratulations once again to the WASS community on becoming an IB World School member. We would also like to send our best wishes to the first IB cohort of the 2020 school year.

It offers four educational programs. In 50 years, all IB programs have been well-known for their strictness in terms of academic requirements. This gives IB students an advantage, as they are well prepared, for the 21st century and globalisation. As international citizens IB students are aware of their local and global responsibilities and strive to improve the different communities they belong to.
