A diverse range of activities throughout September 2026 brought the WASS community inspiring milestones.
Each milestone throughout the academic year not only captures memorable moments but also provides WASSers with meaningful experiences along their journey of learning and growth.
Welcoming the academic year 2026 – 2027 with the nationwide opening ceremony
Joining the joyful atmosphere of the nationwide school opening ceremony, on September 5, 2026, the WASS community welcomed the academic year 2026 – 2027 with excitement and enthusiasm.
Moments shared with teachers and friends, together with the vibrant atmosphere of the first day of school, gave WASSers renewed energy to embark on a new journey of learning and discovery.
Connecting and inspiring through September Assembly
The first Assemblies of the academic year provided WASSers with opportunities to receive important updates, reflect on ongoing activities, and prepare for new experiences. They also created a space for students to connect, share, and identify their aspirations and goals for the journey ahead.
Through each story and activity shared, WASS encourages students to step beyond their comfort zones, embrace new experiences, and gradually move closer to their goals.
Recognizing efforts and inspiring further growth on the learning journey
In September, outstanding students who successfully earned the “WASS Future Scholars Pathway” Scholarship for the academic year 2026 – 2027 were honored. This recognition celebrated their academic achievements, independent academic thinking, critical thinking skills, and commitment to continuous growth.
The scholarship also provides further motivation for WASSers to continue pursuing excellent academic pathways such as the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and the Western Australian International Program (Year 10), while gradually building the academic foundation and essential skills for their future learning journey.
Preparing students for an international university journey
For Year 11 and 12 WASSers, the workshop “Are you ready for University? 7 things no one tells you about studying abroad”, jointly organized by WASS, ISA Study Abroad Center, and Navitas University Partnerships North America (UPNA), provided practical perspectives on the transition to university.
Through insights shared by Ms. Sharla Reid – Vice President of Student and Academic Success at Navitas UPNA, WASSers explored independence, proactive learning, cultural adaptation, building connections, maintaining a balanced lifestyle, and seeking support when needed. The sharing session and direct discussions gave students additional perspectives to help them proactively prepare for an international learning environment and their post-secondary journey.
Through these first milestones of the academic year, WASS hopes that each activity will not only provide memorable experiences but also create opportunities for students to discover their capabilities, define their goals, and build the essential foundations for each stage of their journey toward maturity.
