On his journey of academic pursuit, WASS alumnus Duong Nguyen Thuan Thanh impressively received admission offers from 8 prestigious universities in the United States and 1 in Australia, with a total scholarship value of over 19 billion VND. Among these promising opportunities, Thanh chose to pursue Political Science at Stony Brook University – one of the leading public research universities in New York State.
Let’s discover Thanh’s inspiring story through his own reflections:
“At the same time, I was admitted to 8 U.S. universities and 1 in Australia, with scholarships totaling more than 19 billion VND. Yet, I chose Political Science at Stony Brook University. Although the scholarship was not as high as what I was offered elsewhere, Stony Brook is among the top dynamic and renowned public research universities in New York State.
To turn this dream into reality, I was equipped with many valuable skills and experiences through the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE International) program. To me, this is a profound academic program that nurtures holistic growth, from knowledge in languages, mathematics, ethics, and multicultural values to creative thinking and technological application, as well as personal and social competencies.
During my 6 years at WASS, in an environment filled with safety and positivity, I felt truly fortunate to grow up surrounded by the love of my teachers and friends. These very experiences gave me strong wings to confidently explore greater horizons.
My biggest challenge was always setting goals higher than my current ability and striving to achieve them, because I always think of my Parents’ hard work and the joy they feel when I succeed.
Finally, I wish all teachers good health and happiness. To my fellow WASSers, may you always be confident, mature, and uphold integrity, ready to shine anywhere in the world.”
Duong Nguyen Thuan Thanh’s journey stands as a powerful testament to how students grow and thrive with the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE International) program – a true “passport of knowledge” that can take students anywhere in the world.
