After surpassing over 30 of the nation’s top teams in the Final Round, the WASS team proudly secured Third Place at the AI Contest 2024 Awards Ceremony, held in Hanoi on December 21, 2024. This achievement is not only a proud milestone but also a testament to the relentless effort, determination, and continuous learning spirit of WASSers in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
With the theme “The Limits of Interaction Between AI and Human Emotions”, the Vietnam AI Contest 2024 – organized by VietNamNet and VLAB Innovation – provided an enriching platform for students nationwide who are passionate about technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The competition encouraged students to explore, develop, and bring innovative ideas in the field of AI while also helping them build essential skills such as problem-solving, programming, and teamwork. Nguyen Hoang Thien Thanh shared, “Living in an era of technological advancement, I am aware of the importance and applications of AI in both academics and real-life scenarios. Therefore, the Vietnam AI Contest became an opportunity for me to dive deeper into AI and gain multifaceted insights into pressing issues today.
Despite discovering the competition quite late, with clear strategies and determination, our team successfully secured Third Place at the Vietnam AI Contest. I feel incredibly happy and proud that our hard work and perseverance have paid off with such a sweet reward.”
Duong Dong Nghi also shared, “In this competition, our team chose the medical field because we saw how AI could create life-changing advancements in medicine, saving lives and making healthcare more efficient. That vision inspired us every step of the way.
To achieve this success, I’m incredibly thankful for my teammates, who were amazing partners throughout this journey. I also want to thank our Parents and teachers for their endless support; their belief gave us the confidence to keep going and achieve our goals.
I also want to share with other WASSers that I wasn’t someone who joined contests before, but passion and curiosity drove me to take part in this competition. Therefore, WASSers don’t do something just because of peer pressure or fear of missing out. Instead, find joy in the process, trust your efforts, and believe in yourself. Every step forward matters, even the small ones.
“The preparation for the competition was truly intense and challenging. My teammates and I spent countless nights planning, writing, rewriting, and practicing tirelessly. Every step in our journey through the Vietnam AI Contest was a learning experience – sharpening our ideas, honing our execution, and becoming more knowledgeable about teamwork and perseverance.
My advice to other WASSers is not to shy away from challenging yourself. If you are scared of taking risks, don’t be; enjoy the setbacks and learn from them, and most important of all, enjoy the journey. Know that every challenge has the potential to grow and that winning success is more than just winning; it’s about learning and growing.” – Yash Iyer shared.
