Entering 2026 with abundant positive energy, the WASS community has collectively created an inspiring inaugural month. From journeys of intellectual discovery and academic arenas to cultural exploration activities, each event has vividly illustrated the spirit of proactive learning and global integration at WASS.

1. Book Week 2026: Nurturing a love for reading in our little WASSers

Book Week 2026, held from January 12 to 16, transformed every school day for our little WASSers into an enchanting adventure. Under the theme “Open a Book, Open a World”, our students did more than just get acquainted with fascinating stories; they also enjoyed a special visit to the Primary Campus Library. Furthermore, they transformed into “detectives” on treasure hunts, talented “mini-artists” performing captivating plays, and beloved fairy tale characters stepping right out of the pages.

A special highlight of the event was the strong connection fostered between the school, families, and students through the “Reading with Parents” activity and the “Golden Bell Challenge” intellectual playground. Whether it was the image of parents turning pages with their children or the moments when students confidently answered questions in both Vietnamese and English, these experiences have created beautiful memories in our students’ journey of intellectual, emotional, and skill development.

2. Debate Champions 2025 Final Round: Igniting the bravery of mighty “lions”

The Debate Champions 2025 Final Round was an explosive competition featuring WASSers from both Primary and Secondary levels. Under the theme “Think Critically, Speak Boldly”, the competing teams delivered sharp rebuttals, logical reasoning, and persuasive evidence. Their confidence and masterful stage presence created truly emotional and inspiring debates.

The Debate Champions Final Round was not just about finding the best teams. More importantly, it aimed to support WASSers in practicing critical thinking, listening, and problem-solving skills.

3. Australia Day: Drawing a journey of cultural discovery to the “land of Kangaroos”

Australia Day, held on January 26, brought Australia’s vibrant culture closer to the WASS community.

Our little WASSers embarked on a virtual journey to Australia through lively storytelling, cheerful folk melodies, and creative craft activities that captured the colorful essence of Australia.

For Primary, Secondary, and High school WASSers, Australia Day opened up a broader perspective on culture and the role of a global citizen. Through a series of experiential learning activities, students had the opportunity to explore Indigenous history and culture, the connection between Australia and Asia, as well as sustainability issues. Each experience helped students gain a deeper understanding of the three priority areas in the Western Australian Curriculum at WASS, thereby enhancing their knowledge, shaping their mindsets, and fostering a sense of responsibility toward the community.

The exciting activities in January show WASS’s effort to create an inspiring school, where students can be themselves and grow their confidence. Let’s look forward to our next journeys at WASS!
