Literacy Week with the theme “Reading with Purpose”, held from November 4 to 8, 2024, brought a variety of exciting and meaningful activities, inspiring the WASS community to embrace the joy of reading.

Writer Maxim Gorky once said, “Books open new horizons before my eyes.” This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the immense role books play in enriching the human spirit. Books serve as a gateway to a limitless world of knowledge, providing not only a wealth of information but also nurturing the soul, stimulating critical thinking, and sparking creativity. Reading empowers us to continuously learn and grow.

Recognizing the importance of cultivating a reading habit, WASS organized Literacy Week from November 4 to 8, 2024, under the theme “Reading with Purpose”, featuring a series of creative and meaningful activities for WASSers.

Literacy Week was not merely an opportunity for WASSers to learn about books but also a chance for them to showcase their talents and individuality through various engaging activities. Familiar books seemed to come alive with new vibrancy as they were “dressed” in creative, hand-designed book covers crafted by WASSers. These covers reflected their unique ideas, boundless creativity, and distinctive personal aesthetics. In addition, students embarked on exciting adventures into the world of books through activities like designing bookmarks, completing a giant book, transforming into beloved characters, or exchanging books with friends.

A highlight of the week was the introduction of the Cozy Corner in the WASS Library – a warm and welcoming space where WASSers could explore their favorite books in a truly unique and intimate way. This cozy nook not only provided moments of relaxation but also allowed students to experience the joy of reading right at school.

By encouraging students to participate in the unique and enriching activities of Literacy Week, WASS aims to inspire them to develop a reading habit and recognize that books are not only an infinite source of knowledge but also trustworthy companions in their journey of self-growth. Reading serves as a gateway to continuous learning, lifelong education, and the path to future success.

Although Literacy Week has come to an end, the WASS community, let’s continue to nurture our passion for reading and let the valuable lessons from books inspire us to become the best version of ourselves!
