November at WASS was filled with excitement through various enriching experiential activities, creating opportunities for WASSers to showcase their fresh thinking and leadership abilities.
The WASS community continues to mark its meaningful learning journey with a series of inspiring events and competitions. From the International Book Week, the House Innovation and the School-level Science Research competitions to the official announcement of the Student Council for the academic year 2025 – 2026, all have painted a vibrant picture that highlights the growth and confidence of WASSers.
1. International Book Week – A journey of knowledge exploration and creative inspiration
The International Book Week 2025, themed “From Readers to Leaders: The Power of Knowledge”, offered WASSers countless memorable moments through engaging challenges that encouraged them to discover the power hidden within every page of a book.

At the Book Swap and Teacher’s Top Picks stations, students were introduced to a wide range of new books and had the opportunity to connect with teachers and friends through meaningful conversations about valuable reads. With activities such as Bookmark Design, If I Were an Author, and Explore the Authors, WASSers unleashed their imagination and expressed their individuality through their creative works. Meanwhile, Storytelling, Book Review Video Challenge, and From Book to Stage motivated students to confidently share their perspectives and refine their communication skills.

Notably, through the Hand-in-Hand project, students practiced kindness and empathy by sending heartfelt gifts such as books, stuffed animals, and treats to children in need.
Although International Book Week 2025 has come to an end, the journey of exploring the boundless world of knowledge through books will surely continue. WASSers are encouraged to nurture their curiosity and maintain the habit of daily reading, as every page holds the power to enrich both the mind and the soul.
2. Unleashing creativity through exciting challenges
In November, WASS students also had the chance to showcase their creativity and research abilities through various competitions.
The House Innovation Competition invited WASSers to reimagine the identity of the WASS House System. Under the theme “Cultural Essence of Australia”, students proposed unique ideas for new house names and logo designs, reflecting their pride, cultural understanding of Australia, and the energetic WASS spirit. A refreshing new look for the House System is on the horizon. Let’s look forward to an exciting transformation!

Meanwhile, WASS’s young “scientists” are progressing through the final rounds of the School-level Science Research Competition to determine which outstanding projects will represent WASS at the City-level Science and Engineering Competition. Through this competition, students are encouraged to strengthen their STEM skills, cultivate scientific thinking, enhance creativity, and develop problem-solving abilities.
3. Student Council – A promising journey for dynamic young leaders
Also in November, the WASS community proudly welcomed the newly elected members of the Student Council 2025 – 2026. These students not only collaborate with the School to organize academic, cultural, and community activities but also serve as representatives of the entire students at WASS, bridging connections and spreading creativity and unity across the community.

To take on these important roles, WASSers underwent multiple rounds of selection, interviews, campaigns, and voting. By demonstrating their talents and leadership potential, they successfully gained the trust of students and staff to join the Student Council for this academic year.

Their journey in the Student Council will be an invaluable opportunity to gain meaningful experiences, break through personal limits, foster leadership skills, and create unforgettable memories throughout their studenthood.
