After completing the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE International) at WASS, alumnus Do Quoc Anh continued his university journey at Western Washington University in the United States. Quoc Anh has always viewed his years at WASS as a “journey of growth” – a time when he gained knowledge, embraced new experiences, and gradually came to understand himself better.
WACE International is a senior secondary program accredited and authorized by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), the statutory authority of the Government of Western Australia. At WASS, the program is designed to balance practical application with academic knowledge, helping students develop critical thinking, academic capabilities, and essential skills to adapt to an international university environment.
These values have helped Quoc Anh grow, develop as a well-rounded individual, and feel ready to embrace the next chapter of his journey. He shared that WASS not only provided valuable knowledge in the classroom but also encouraged him to make his own decisions, take responsibility for his choices, and take initiative when new opportunities arose.
“The WACE International program taught me how to learn independently, manage my time, and adapt to change – lessons that have become a strong foundation for what lies ahead. Looking back, I realize how much I have grown since my first day at WASS, and I have come to understand that there is no single path to success. It is the experiences along the way that allow each of us to write our own story.” – Quoc Anh reflected.
Beyond academics, WASS After-School Activities gave him opportunities to take on new roles and challenge himself in different ways. One of the experiences that left the strongest impression on him was his involvement in the WASS Model United Nations (WAMUN): “At first, I was quite nervous about taking on a completely new role, but I decided to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zone. This important turning point gradually helped me become more confident, learned how to communicate and collaborate with others, and became more open to new challenges. More importantly, I realized that sometimes, we can only truly discover our potential when we dare to step beyond what feels familiar.”
Reflecting on his experiences, Quoc Anh has a few words of advice for fellow WASSers: “Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Allow yourself to try, even when you are not sure what the outcome will be. Every experience brings a lesson, and sometimes, a small opportunity can help you discover a new version of yourself.”
Quoc Anh has his own story to tell, and every WASSer is still writing theirs. It could be a new challenge, a role they have never taken on before, or simply the courage to do something differently. Every choice can become a meaningful milestone, helping WASSers understand themselves better and move closer to what they aspire to achieve.
So, dare to experience, dare to try, and keep moving forward. Because sometimes, what matters most is not where you end up, but who you become along the way.
