In the final month of 2024, the WASS community continues to celebrate the remarkable achievements of students in the IELTS exam. Not only have our WASSers achieved remarkable IELTS scores of 8.0, but they have also demonstrated resilience, determination, and an outstanding spirit of learning, making them a source of pride for the entire WASS community. Let’s listen to some fascinating stories about the journeys of WASSers as they conquer challenges and reach new heights!

Achieving a high IELTS score is often seen as a “golden key” that unlocks significant opportunities, such as winning valuable scholarships or gaining a competitive edge when applying to prestigious universities worldwide. For our WASSers, it is not just a comprehensive test of English proficiency but also a way to explore their own limits,  gaining the confidence to reach new heights of success in higher levels of education in the future. 

Achieving an 8.0 on the IELTS exam is a proud accomplishment for Duong Nguyen Thuan Thanh, a WACE12 student. Thuan Thanh shared that his success came not only from studying but also from maintaining composure under pressure. He further added, “The tireless efforts of my parents are my greatest motivation. They work hard to provide me with the best opportunities, which drives me to always do my best in everything I do. Their dedication reminds me that success is not just personal accomplishment but also a way to honor those who support me. For me, proficiency in English is an important skill that opens many new opportunities and boosts my confidence for the future.”

Similarly, Nguyen Hoang Thien Thanh, an IB12 student, shared that achieving a high IELTS score was the result of hard work and effective strategies. She expressed, “To pursue my dream of studying abroad, I set clear goals from the very beginning of my journey with the IELTS exam. 

I knew that a high score would give me an advantage in applying for scholarships and prestigious universities. This motivated me to continuously work hard, from attending additional classes to self-studying with books and online materials. To make the most of my time and stay disciplined throughout the preparation process, I created a structured study plan and allocated my time efficiently.

First, I focused on improving my vocabulary through reading articles, watching English-language films, and listening to other English media. Then, I read and learned from sample essays online to improve my own writing. In addition to practicing mock tests, understanding the IELTS scoring criteria helped me optimize my results. Above all, determination, perseverance, and proactive learning were the key factors that enabled me to achieve my desired score.”

“I’m excited to share that I recently achieved an overall band score of 8.0 in the IELTS exam! It was a challenging journey, but with the right preparation and mindset, I was able to reach my goal. 

During my preparation, I thoroughly understood the test structure and regularly practiced with materials from Cambridge and Study4 to improve my weaker skills, especially writing and speaking. I also exposed myself to English on a daily basis by watching films, reading, and communicating in English; this helped me to improve my English significantly by learning how natives use this language. In addition, getting feedback from teachers and friends from WASS also made a big difference in improving my skills.

My advice is simple: start early, practice regularly, and

stay consistent. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, as they are the best way to learn. Try taking mock tests frequently to familiarize yourself with the exam format and build your confidence. With hard work and focus, I believe you can achieve outstanding scores in the IELTS.” – Dương Chí Tiến, a BWAP12 student, shared.

“In preparation for the IELTS exam, I developed a coherent and structured study schedule. I invested significant time and effort into practicing mock tests and utilized the encouraging learning environment here at WASS. By frequently using English, both inside and outside of the classroom, and receiving great advice from my teachers on effective study methods, I was able to enhance my skills and build confidence.

My enthusiasm is derived from my passion for learning and the desire to challenge myself to achieve personal growth and success. I firmly believe that English is a vital tool that opens doors to limitless opportunities, fosters connections with people around the world, and equips me to face the future with confidence. With assiduity and determination, I am prepared to overcome any challenges and turn my dreams into reality.” – Dao Le Hong Duc, a WACE12 student, reflected.
