On October 23 and 24, 2024, the vibrant International Fair, filled with diverse activities, made the United Nations Week “Unity in Diversity” a memorable experience for the WASS Community.
United Nations Day, celebrated annually on October 24, is a significant commemoration marking the establishment of the United Nations – an international organization that plays a crucial role in maintaining international peace, promoting sustainable development, and fostering cooperation among nations worldwide. Embracing the joyful spirit as countries around the world celebrate the 79th anniversary of this organization, WASS organized United Nations Week under the theme “Unity in Diversity”.
Amidst the vibrant and bustling atmosphere, students donned traditional costumes from various countries, immersing themselves in memorable moments and laughter at the unique food stalls of the International Fair. Additionally, they enthusiastically participated in other exciting activities such as flag parades, traditional costume shows, and lively international dances. All these experiences created a lively and energetic atmosphere, helping students explore more about the diversity and unique beauty of cultures around the world.
Moreover, the event also spread profound humanitarian value as all proceeds totaling 149,950,000 VND from the International Fair were donated to the Community Fund “Empower the Next Generation”, allowing the WASS family to continue sharing love with students in Yen Bai through the main project “Yen Bai, For a Brighter Tomorrow” (Phase 2) in the academic year 2024 – 2025.
This journey through various cultures provided WASSers with valuable lessons. They not only broadened their horizons but also honed essential skills for global citizens, such as critical thinking, intercultural communication, and adaptability in an international environment. Through this event, WASSers gained a deeper understanding of the value of diversity, learned to respect and appreciate cultural differences, and recognized the importance of unity in building a peaceful and sustainable world.
With the values it imparts, the School hopes that the United Nations Week “Unity in Diversity” has inspired students to actively develop their global mindset and strengthen their global perspective. As a result, they can become responsible global citizens, ready to embrace and shape a better future.
