Music exchange with Gabriel Tran Phuong Nam pianist

With the goal of developing students comprehensively, the Western Australian Primary and High school always brings opportunities for students to enhance their abilities.

On his 5th performance in Vietnam, Gabriel Tran Phuong Nam pianist will have an exchange with students of the Western Australian Primary and High school. He’ll talk about his art experiences and Classical French music as well. Besides, students of the Western Australian Primary and High school will have the opportunity to enjoy his performances of some classic works like Sonate, Triana, Prelude, Menuet, etc.

Gabriel Tran-Phuong-Nam began studying piano at the age of 6 with Jacqueline Pouillard at Noisy Le Sec Municipal Conservatory. He continued his study of music at CRRP (Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris) under Billy Eidi. In 2006 he was unanimously granted his Musical Studies Diploma (DEM) and admitted in 2009 to the CNSMD (Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), where he initially studied with Bruno Rigutto and now with Hortense Cartier-Bresson and assistants Fernando Rossano and Prisca Benoit. He studied chamber music with Daria Hovora, Itamar Golan, Laslo Hadady, Claire Désert et Hae-Sun Kang. He was graduated with highest honors from his undergraduate program (Dnspm) in 2012 and got his Piano Master’s Degree in 2014.

Gabriel also had the opportunity to develop his musical skills during a Master Class with Dominique Merlet, Pascal Devoyon, Francois Chaplin, and participate in many piano competitions. He was unanimously given first place at the Claude Kahn International Competition (2003, superior level), also with a unanimous decision he was given first prize at the Sucy-en-Brie National Competition (2005, superior level) and was unanimously awarded the Gold Medal (2009, excellence level) at the Lagny-sur-Marne International Competition. He was also awarded second place at the Competetion Leopold Bellan (2014).

Since 2009, Gabriel has given several piano recitals. He performed at Noisy-Le-Sec City Hall, the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix des Arméniens, Notre Dame du Rosaire Les Lilas, Missions Etrangeres de Paris, US Embassy Paris, Sofitel Plaza Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory. He was invited in June 2014 to perform in French Institute of Valencia and Benicassim (Spain).

In view of reaching a wider audience, he performed during Le Cercle à Musique festival (2006, 2012), played many times with Jeune Philarmonie de Seine Saint-Denis orchestra. Every year he performs the Lunar New Year “Tet” Festival Concert at UNESCO Paris. He also participated to the “Liszt and Hungary” concert at Orsay Museum, Chopin Festival at the Bagatelle Park Paris (2012) as well as the National Museum La Renaissance (2014).
